Strategic Marketing project support

The Plan

Providing support to the Global Herceptin® team on a project by project basis. Input has included in the past, preparing the 2010 Business Plans for Herceptin® in Breast and Gastric Cancer and helping plan and facilitate the Herceptin part of Roche’s Annual Global Implementation Meeting, which is intended to provide strategic marketing support to Roche marketers from around the globe.

Director of Oncology Marketing – EU

The Plan

This was a challenging placement not least because of time resource limitations working part time in such a Senior position and required a large degree of discipline and commitment on Bruce’s part to make this work. Responsibilities included developing and implementing Pan-EU strategic direction for the markets in the Acute leukaemia and paediatric area, re-branding of Evoltra®, Transplant and Oncology Business Units integration and more recently the implementation of product expansion with MabCampath® and Fludara®.

Product managing the UK launch of Nplate®

The Plan

This, a brand new therapy area for Amgen together with the UK preparing to be the first EU market to launch, afforded Bruce the opportunity to devise strategies such as an innovative 250mcg vial rebate. Bruce was also responsible for driving some difficult decisions around the supply and distribution of the product in the UK. Additional responsibilities included supporting and coaching two sales people seconded to the marketing team.

Marketing responsibility for Tyverb® in Europe

The Plan

This placement initially involved ‘care-taking’ Marketing activities for Tyverb in Europe which involved keeping the countries up to date with performance against expectations which Bruce facilitated on a one to one basis with the EU 5 and via TC updates with the smaller markets. Over time Bruce’s contribution has evolved to include Global initiatives and has afforded him further opportunity to be more familiar with digital initiatives and the approval challenges which such technology can throw up for Pharma.

Global Medical Affairs

The Plan

Initially with GSK, this assignment presented a valuable opportunity for me to gain medical affairs experience as I provided additional cover within the Tykerb/Tyverb Global Medical Affairs team as Scientific Affairs manager based at Stockley Park in the UK.

Recently transitioning over to Novartis Oncology has required a degree of flexibility in order to accommodate the vastly different GMA functions in the two companies.
